A new pilot internship program between Pratt Institute’s Creative Arts Therapy Department and PS46 Edward C. Blum Elementary School brought graduate art therapy interns into a Brooklyn public school to support social-emotional learning through creative expression.¹ Three interns worked with students individually and in small groups, integrating art-based approaches into the classroom to foster connection and personal exploration.¹ Their work included assisting in the art room and offering structured activities that helped students identify and express feelings through art materials, despite diverse language backgrounds.¹ The initiative highlights how art therapy training and community engagement can intersect in educational settings.¹
